District Three serves the Western side of the City of Cincinnati. The district covers 20.06 square miles. Residential population is approximately 95,000 residents living in fourteen separate neighborhoods: East Price Hill, West Price Hill, Lower Price Hill, East Westwood, Westward, Englishwoods, Fay Apartments, Millvale & Moosewood, North Fairmount, South Fairmount, Riverside, Saylor Park, Sedamsville, South Cumminsville,
District Three delivers a variety police services to the fourteen communities with a staff of 151 sworn officers (1 Captain, 4 Lieutenants, 18 Sergeants and 128 Officers) and five civilians. The majority of the officers are assigned to the three reliefs: First Shift, Second Shift and Third Shift. The relief officers' primary function is to provide 24 hour first responder police services to the communities. Other services provided by the Reliefs are, specialized traffic enforcement and mountain bike patrol. Additionally, District Three staffs an Investigative Unit responsible for the district wide investigations.
The Investigative Unit is comprised of three unique units: Investigators, Violent Crimes Squad and a Neighborhood Unit. The Investigators complete follow up investigations received by the relief officers and processes crime scenes. The Violent Crimes Squad is tasked with the duties of street level drug investigations, apprehension of wanted felons and other covert operations. The Neighborhood Unit works closely with the community to provide long term problem solving and crime prevention services relative to each neighborhood.
There are also three very strong and committed volunteer Citizens on Patrol groups from Price Hill, Westwood and Saylor Park who patrol their neighborhoods and assist the Police Department in spotting problems and providing service to the communities. These groups are an excellent example of the Community and the Police Department working together to improve the quality of life and to provide a safer environment within the Cincinnati Neighborhoods.
All of District Three's Units gel to form a highly effective and trained support system for delivering the best possible police services to the fourteen communities.
