Officer Injured - I-75 Crash

On November 24, 2007, at 4:33 p.m., Sergeant Bryce Bezdek, Cincinnati Police Department Traffic Unit Supervisor, was critically injured on southbound I-75 near the Western Hills Viaduct.  Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was pursuing a vehicle wanted for a drug investigation out of Colerain Township.  Sergeant Bezdek had positioned himself on I-75 to assist County units by deploying stop sticks.  During the pursuit, the pursuing vehicle struck a vehicle traveling southbound forcing the vehicle into Sergeant Bezdek’s marked police vehicle.  As a result of the impact, Sergeant Bezdek was struck and sustained multiple injuries.  Sergeant Bezdek was transported by Air Care to University Hospital.
