Two New Crime-Fighting Tools Will Be Introduced

Police Chief Thomas H. Streicher, Jr. and Captain Andrew G. Raabe, District Three Commander, will hold a news conference at 10:00 a.m. Friday July 13 at District Three, 3201 Warsaw Avenue.  The focus of the conference is to update the Western Corridor Safe City Project and to introduce two new tools that will be used to prevent and detect criminal behavior.  There will be a demonstration of new remote surveillance equipment and the Segway Transport Vehicle.

Media parking will be made available in District Three’s side parking lot.

The Western Corridor includes areas adjacent to Glenway Avenue through the Price Hill, Westwood and Western Hills communities.  In February 2006, representatives of Target Corporation, Cincinnati Police Department, community councils, schools, businesses and residents within this corridor made the commitment to work together in a network of electronic information sharing, newsletters, community events, and a surveillance camera network – all with the aim of making a positive impact on the quality of life and strengthening the economic viability of the Western Corridor.  Although there have been similar programs in other cities, Cincinnati’s Western Corridor Safe City project is unprecedented in its scope and the variety of stakeholders in the partnership.
